The venue for this wedding was amazing. The Sherman Lake YMCA is a large outdoor recreation area featuring a reception hall, cabins, a lake and, needless to say, tons of opportunities for beauty shots.

For this reception-only shoot again I used the Canon EOS 20D and a Canon Speedlight. The venue was a low to medium light situation with very little opportunity to bounce from the ceiling so I used the diffusion filter halfway out to serve as a mini bounce. I angled the light up 45 degrees to soften the light. Continue reading
Why Professional Videographers Are Better Than ‘Uncle Frank’

Often clients will ask me, “You’re a photographer, right?” I’ll tell them that I shoot both photos and video and explain that a package of both is something to think about. Sometimes the reply is, “Oh my I’ve got an uncle or a friend who can shoot some video.” I smile and let them know that’s cool and we settle on what they’re comfortable with.
I wanted to take this opportunity to explain why a professional video is better.

For the Krajnovich Wedding I used a Canon EOS 20D and a Canon Speedlight. The equipment worked flawlessly. I had to switch out flash batteries once and camera batteries once as well. It was an 8 hour shoot including “getting ready” shots, ceremony, portraits and reception. Continue reading
